A senior Eco Buildings delegation and Gabriel Coll of Lumen Holdings Limited visited The Gambia at the invitation of the Ministries of Interior and Defence. During the visit, Eco Buildings representatives met with the Minister of Interior, Hon. Abdoulie Sanyang, and the Minister of Defence, Hon. Baboucarr Ousmaila Joof.
Etrur Albani, Executive Vice Chairman of Eco Buildings, stated, "We were honoured to visit The Gambia at the invitation of the Ministries of Interior and Defence and to engage directly with both Ministers and their senior teams." He added, "We were pleased to be joined by Gabriel Coll, representing Lumen Holdings Limited, as part of the business-development engagement. The Government's ambition, decisiveness and clear focus on delivering better housing were extremely encouraging."
Housing and Security Initiatives
Discussions between the Eco Buildings delegation and Gambian officials concentrated on the provision of affordable housing units for police and military personnel. These talks explored the development of infrastructure specifically designed to meet the living requirements of security forces operating within the country.
Future phases of the proposed program include a potential expansion of these building initiatives into broader public-sector housing projects. Representatives also reviewed the viability of integrating social-housing models into the overall infrastructure strategy to address wider accommodation needs. Officials from the Ministries of Interior and Defence evaluated how these housing solutions might align with existing national priorities for public service staff. The meeting established a framework for assessing how such construction projects could be scaled to support government employees beyond the initial focus on security services. Both parties examined the technical requirements necessary to implement these building programs across The Gambia.
Manufacturing and Regional Strategy
The Gambian government expressed interest in the GFRG system developed by Eco Buildings Group PLC and explored the potential for local manufacturing deployment within the country. This interest centers on the utilization of Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum technology to support domestic infrastructure goals. Officials assessed how the establishment of local production facilities could facilitate the construction of housing projects while creating opportunities for industrial development.
Eco Buildings Group PLC views The Gambia as a potential base for future operations across West Africa. The company identified the country as a strategic location to manage and scale construction activities for regional markets. By positioning manufacturing capabilities within The Gambia, the organization intends to serve broader housing requirements throughout the West African sub-region.
Any future programs remain subject to formal agreements, financing, applicable law, and regulatory approvals. These requirements dictate the timeline and structure for the implementation of construction initiatives. The company and government representatives must finalize legal frameworks and secure necessary capital before projects move into execution phases. All activities continue to be governed by the regulatory standards currently in place for infrastructure development in the country.
